We did a car swap and sold both our 2005 Mazda MPV Minivan and the 2009 Volvo celestial blue C70 convertible. We got the Pathfinder on Sunday and the Leaf on Tuesday (more about the that below).

The convertible was a really fun car and one of the cars that I'm going to miss. The kids were upset when we told them what we were doing, so they must have the sport car love from my side because compared to Kevin, I'm definitely more of a sporty car type of driver as he likes the sport bike motorcycles or his gas-guzzling Land Rover Discovery (unless it's the Ferrari that he fantasizes about).

The Volvo was really cool to watch when you put the top up or down as it would stack one section on top of the other and became known as the 'Transformer' car because of it's look.

Kevin's new car is the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum. We both really liked the mocha stone with the almond interior and it's apparently a rarity, so we had to scrounge to find this color selection. It was also time for Kevin to have a change as he was really tired of driving a minivan and needed something different while still good for road trips, so he got to splurge this time around and is driving the bells and whistles car which is well deserved.

I'm sporting the efficient vehicle which is zero emissions as an electric car. I have the metallic slate with black interior and a whopping driving radius of about 100 miles with a top speed of 90. I jokingly say that I have a governor in the car now to limit our speed, but that's not an issue when you try to drive economically.

Because we were trying to score a free home charger (retails for $999), we had to wait for the first of the month as there is a current promotion where if you are part of the study, you will receive a free charger plus installation ($2,000 value) and only have to pay for the city permit. It is a great bargain, and factoring in the $7,500 federal rebate with the $2,500 state rebate, as well as the $1,000 NMAC rebate while receiving Nissan friends/family pricing while not paying for gas, this car starts to look prettier, doesn't it? We'll see how we like it over the next couple of months. It's an adjustment driving considering you don't hear any motor noise and a beeping sound when you put it into reverse.
