Hau’oli La Ho’omakika’i

Happy Thanksgiving or as they say in Hawaiian, Hau'oli La Ho'omakika'i (pronounced how-oh-lee la ho-o-ma-key-kah-ee).

Although the Dallas Cowboys did not do well playing against the New Orleans Saints in their traditional football game, we enjoyed ourselves with a Thanksgiving Dinner buffet at Bali Hai Restaurant, a Hawaiian restaurant off Shelter Island.  Kevin had worked his magic and secured a window view of the harbor overlooking downtown where we could watch the sea lions and pelicans in the waters below.  It was a nice view and the food was good, but it was family that made it a thankful day.  We feasted on turkey, ham, salmon, tri-tip steak, mashed potatoes, marshmallow candied yams, salads, bacon brussel sprouts, green beans, root vegetables, rolls, and various desserts (pineapple upside down cake, apple pie, pumpkin pie, and ice cream).

I was really glad that my parents came out to San Diego to spend time with us as we really do miss them.  Ashley and Brandon will often times ask if Papa and Gaga would ever move out here which I think is sweet.  We do wish that we were closer to them., but  I guess the saying is true that absence makes the heart grow fonder.
