Ashley is in the final stage of having a single digit age. She told me so since she is now 9 years old and next year she will be 10. I was then educated about how 10 is a double digit and that apparently she can't wait - but we can and are amazed at how quickly she has grown up.
October 12th is her birth date and was eagerly looking forward to her birthday dinner. She had a simple request in that all she wanted to eat (for the last month or two) was Chinese sausage. Kevin was the superb chef and created his Iron Chef concoction of Chinese sausage fried rice birthday "cake", complete with a candle of course. We sang happy birthday to her and then had her blow out the (trick) candle. She was successful with the first attempt to blow out the candle, but since it would keep reigniting, she had to try again. She then started laughing and Brandon offered his assistance where they both were trying to fan out the candle and blow it out as well. Kevin had to intervene and remove the candle so the cake could be consumed.
She really appreciated everyone who remembered her and either called or sent letters. Ashley diligently read through all the letters, which Brandon was frustrated with since she took too long.
