Ahoy, Ye Matey!

Ashley and Brandon got their booty fill of FREE Krispy Kreme donuts when they each dressed liked a pirate in recognition of Talk Like a Pirate Day (yep, it really exists... see for yourself over on the Official Site of Talk Like a Pirate Day) which is an event held each year on September 19th.  Since they each dressed up like a pirate and met the minimum attire requirements, both of them were awarded a treasure of a free dozen glazed Krispy Kreme donuts (regular retail price $8.69 a dozen).

Kevin and I patiently waited in line with them and approximately another 75 people for no less than for 55 minutes before the kids received their first bounty of donuts.  We extended our hands for the other box only to discover that our luck quickly ran out and there were no more donuts.  Arrrr, those scallywags!  We figured that we would not want to leave  without the rest of our loot and what's the irony that right as we approach the counter they magically run out?!?!  At that point, we were given two option:

1.  Wait another 20 minutes for a fresh batch of donuts, or
2.  Leave the unmade treasure and head home with only one free box of glazed donuts.

Decisions, decisions.  As any member of the Lin family knows, we elected to wait for the next round as we had a long wait to walk the plank up to the cash register which we considered to be well worth the wait.  Kevin was a trooper and maintained our place in line while the kids brought donuts up to him so he could maintain his focus lest chaos should ensue.  Even though it was a school night, we finally were rewarded and received our second box of donuts at 9:20 pm and we quickly booked it home and shared the stash with our neighbors as well as packed two donuts for each of the kids lunches the next day.  Both were excited at the prospect of free donuts and Ashley was the one who talked Brandon into dressing up for this event.  That's our little lass and lad!
