新年快樂!

Happy (Chinese) New Year!  It's the year of the Rabbit and once again time to celebrate Chinese-style with good food, friends and family, the traditional customs, and of course the lion dance.  After Chinese school on Saturday morning, we swung by Ranch 99 to pick up some items, including one of my favorite treats - nian gao (sticky rice cake).  While waiting, lion dancers started to perform so Ashley and Brandon watched the two lions dance around for hóng bāo (red envelopes).

We are looking forward to more of the traditional festivities.  It was interesting to note that in school, Brandon's class actually studied some about Chinese new year and was proud to come home and tell us about it.  He told Ashley that snakes likes to read, watch plays, listen to music, and are good with money, which is descriptive of Ashley.  Brandon, being the monkey, proclaimed that money's like to make people laugh and that's what he does.
