| Kevin and Kate with ramen & beer... mmmmmmm |
We were so lucky to meet up with Kate this week who took time from her Pearson Education conference being held in San Diego to hang out with us Wednesday night. She's been with them almost 20 years which is almost unheard of in the corporate world, but we consider it a treat when we can spend any amount of time with Kate whenever we can.
This was the second time we benefited from her sales trips to southern California (we met up with her last January 2013) and it's a nice way to start of the new year. This year, Kate suggested trying a ramen noodle place in Little Italy that a couple of people suggested - Underbelly.
Although a small restaurant, the service was great and the food was good. Kate does not really get to eat ramen so she enjoyed it and Kevin and I have been looking for a ramen place in San Diego that can compete with one of our favorites up in Los Angeles in Little Tokyo called Daikokuya, so we were happy. Both Ashley & Brandon liked the food and devoured their noodles and meat with Brandon, our initial naysayer, commenting that it tasted so good he wanted a bag so he could save his broth (we managed to get a to go bowl).
Kate provided us wonderful updates about their Walt Disney World trip mid-December, Christmas holidays, and Salomon Lahana's daughter's bat mitzvah in Houston. Carol had turned 12 in September, so it was the rite of celebration and Campbell was able to experience it with Peter and Kate while Conleigh and Alex held down the fort in Austin. We would have loved to have had more time as it went by all too quickly, but hopefully we will be able to plan a trip for both families to get together and spend time again this year. That's one of my goals for 2014 - to see the Hardin family! Thanks for taking the time to meet with us and for dinner, Kate.
| What the pho? : ) It's the whole gang with extras (minus the Hardin clan). |
