Kelp Fishing

Fishing from the top of Perkins Park
Kevin and Brandon managed to get away a couple of times and go fishing in Monterrey Bay over the holidays.  Kevin asked the locals about the best bait to use (squid) and what types of fish you can expect to catch (cod, perch, rockfish).  Both of them were excited about casting their lines and catching some fish so they scoured the area to find some fishing spots.

On the first day Richard joined them and they went fishing along fisherman's wharf since a license was not required for pier fishing.  Unfortunately, they did not catch any fish but caught kelp and decided that they would buy a day license and try fishing from a cliff for a change.

On the next day, Richard needed rest after staying up all night with Sebastien who had bronchitis, so I volunteered to tag along and finishing reading my book and hang out with them which was a nice treat.  Although they were not successful with this trip either, a father/son duo had caught some perch and offered it to Brandon to try, so the trip was not in vain and Kevin cooked fish that night for all to try.
