Kevin and I headed over to Del Mar Hills Academy to have lunch with the kids but arrived early and got to watch Brandon play football while Ashley chatted with her friends outside and hung out on the playground.

The third grade boys have devised a very complicated process of selecting the captains - the winner of rock, paper, scissors (rochambeau) gets dibs on picking their team.

The boys are very focused on maximizing their play time and run back to the line of scrimmage to start the next play. Brandon happened to be the captain this game and was the quarterback, which is a position he enjoys playing.

Kevin was smart and brought our beach blanket for the kids to sit on together rather than sitting in the grass which was well received by the girls. After their designated playtime, the kids then have about fifteen minutes to eat their lunch (quickly) before returning to the classroom for their afternoon studies. The time flew by but it was fun spending a little time with them before they had to go back.
