Oats and Flowers

After leaving the Lamoureux's and heading up toward the Dallas/Fort Worth area, we inadvertently missed one of the cut-offs to hook over to I-35 and made some wonderful discoveries.  Since we were traveling in April, we were able to see the varied the wildflowers in bloom, which provides some beauty to the typical dry and flat lands of central and northern Texas.  To me, nothing is better than the Texas bluebonnets and I was ecstatic to see them and convinced the kids to let me capture the moment for posterity.
Shortly thereafter, while traveling on a two-lane road, we discovered Oatmeal, Texas.  Who knew there was such a town?!?!  Regardless, Brandon is our oatmeal fan who will request it for breakfast, lunch or dinner on occasion, so we had him point out the sign with his light saber. (check out the smile on his face).  This small, but ironic twist of fate was a nice surprise.  After this stop, we then proceeded to head up to the Dallas/Fort Worth area for the remainder of our road trip (via West, Texas and the infamous Czech Stop), where we sang songs together including the Beach Boys "Kokomo" and Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry, Be Happy".
