Today was Kevin's day as we treated him to Sunday brunch at the 94th Aero Squadron restaurant. This is a restaurant which replicates a World War I French farmhouse and sits overlooking Montgomery Field Airport, a small commuter airport. It has lots of military memorabilia, antiques, and aviation relics, so there are definitely things to look at. It was actually a treat for all of us as we had not yet tried this restaurant and were hopefully that this would be a nice treat for all of us. Fortunately, we had a reservation as there was over an hour and a half wait for those that did not have one, so lucky for us - one missile averted.

We then were seated by an exterior window which had a decent view, albeit in the bar area, but it overlooked the garden area and had memorabilia on the wall to look at if we wanted to, so not a total dud. The place was crowded which was understandable for a holiday brunch, but when the waiter came and pointed us to the buffet, that's when the bomb exploded - it was on the other side of the restaurant and in a tight, cramped area, almost mimicking a bunker. We then spent the rest of our time maneuvering the mine fields of other brunch seeking individuals and the restaurant employees going to the buffet area and back to our table.
The food was okay overall, but not anything that any of us were crazy about. It was nice to have a mimosa with brunch, but unfortunately, not one of our greatest experiences. Kevin was nice and appreciated the gesture and after our meal, we walked around before leaving the chaos. The kids were happy to celebrate Kevin's day with him and we thought it was a cute concept with fair execution (no pun intended), but they just need a better flow of things or at least make it more manageable to get the MRE (meals ready to eat).
Happy Father's Day, Kevin!
